Recently, a reader requested that I do a review of Kiehl’s Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate. I was happy to oblige given that Kiehl’s is one of my all time favourite skincare brands!
Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate: ingredients
This great serum by Kiehl’s contains 10.5% L-ascorbic acid and 2% Ascorbyl Glycoside. Now these terms may sound a bit scary and chemical-y but they really are the names of different versions of vitamin C, that’s all. L-ascorbic acid is pure vitamin C, whereas Ascorbyl Glycoside is a stable, water-soluble version of vitamin C with a bit of sugar (glucose) added.
Those two main ingredients give Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate the strength it needs to improve our skin! More specifically, it does the following:
- Reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines
- Gives a healthy glow to the skin
- Reduces the size of pores for a smoother skin
It also contains hyaluronic acid which is one of the most powerful moisturizes out there.
If you are anything like me, how a skincare product smells can often make me decide to buy it or not. So I was really happy when I first opened the bottle and smelled this amazing, citrusy smell of fresh orange! I wanted to use the serum simply to get this lovely smelling product on my skin.
Kiehl’s Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate has a seriously rich texture. It feels luxuriously creamy but paradoxically it’s not heavy on the skin. It takes a little while longer than other serums to get absorbed by the skin but I don’t really mind. It’s so pleasant on my skin that I hardly need to use my regular moisturizer.
The first thing I noticed was a much smoother skin and brighter complexion. My skin is definitely more moisturized and glowy. As regards fine lines and wrinkles, I think they are improved, although I haven’t been using it enough time to be sure. But it does look better overall, so I’d say we’re on the right track here. I’ll update this post on a later date if necessary.
Now, the funny thing about this serum is that when applied, there’s a slight tingling sensation on the skin. But, as I read on the box description, this is normal, as the serum is supposed to be heat inducing. Nevertheless, it is good for all skin types, including sensitive. In fact, I have very sensitive skin, with rosacea no less, and yet this serum didn’t cause me any problems whatsoever. So I’d recommended for sensitive skin types too.
In conclusion, I’d say that Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate is one of the most effective serum’s I’ve tried so far, particularly in terms of skin moisture and glow. I think it improves fine lines too but it’s too early for me to reach a conclusion. It has a luxurious texture and gorgeous orange-y fragrance. So far, I’m enjoying using it, and I’d probably buy it again.
